Rosenweg in Itter

Leave the daily grind behind and escape into the realm of roses. On the Rosenweg in Itter you can enjoy wonderful views, discover traditional farms, immerse yourself into nature and put in stops at lovingly maintained resting spots. The "rITTERspielplatz" - Knights' Realm Playground with play castle is located directly along the trail and is a true highlight for all children. Explore the village of Itter in the Holiday Region Hohe Salve on foot. The easy theme trail is especially suited for families, nature lovers and culture-hikers.

The starting point of the tour is the Itter Tourist Information Office, located directly at the village square. From there, follow Itterer-Straße past Café Stefan's Dorfladl to the rose signpost. A narrow side road leads you to the viewing platform, where you can enjoy views of Itter Castle and the surrounding villages of the Region Hohe Salve. Since its redesign in May 2026, the Rosenweg trail has been presented in a fresh new look. A lovingly landscaped natural stone bed with integrated seating, partly new planting and a rest swing invite you to enjoy nature and the magnificent views and take a relaxing break. The redesign was carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Itter's maintenance department, the maintenance team of the Region Hohe Salve Tourist Board and GaLa-Bau Laiminger from Hopfgarten.

The trail continues along a small path through the shady forest. A cosy rest area invites you to relax and enjoy nature. After a short uphill section, you reach the traditional farming village of Itter. Here, you can take a look at the herb and vegetable garden of the Mitterer farm. Passing the traditional farmhouses, you reach the lily pond and the rITTERt playground. Children can play and let off steam to their heart's content, while adults can relax on the comfortable wooden loungers. The forest road then leads you back to the starting point of the hike.
