Tour information
The starting point for this walk is the car park at Gasthof Wegscheid in Kurzer Grund. From there, follow the signposts towards the Neue Bamberger Hütte. Just before the hut, turn left at the signpost for Tristkopf/Kröndlhorn/Markkirchl. Now walk along the forest track, following the signposts, to Markkirchl, which lies directly at the border crossing with Salzburg.The route can be extended to the Tristkopf (+ approx. 1.5 hours)or to the Salzachgeier (+ approx. 3 hours).Afterwards, head back past the Rosswildalm, towards the Neue Bamberger Hütte and on to the Wegscheid inn.

cash - From Innsbruck/Munich: A12 exit Wörgl Ost - feeder road B178 towards St. Johann i. T. & Kitzbühel - after the tunnel exit towards Hopfgarten - at the roundabout take the B170 towards Hopfgarten - drive through the underpass on the right and over the bridge towards Kelchsau - into the valley on the L205 Kelchsauer Straße approx. 10 km to the toll station (car toll EUR 5.-) - after the toll station turn left - through Kurzer Grund valley to Gasthof Wegscheid.
From Kitzbühel: B170 Brixentalstraße direction Wörgl - in Hopfgarten before the second railway underpass turn left and drive over the bridge direction Kelchsau - approx. 10 km to toll station (car toll EUR 5,-) - after toll station turn left - through Kurzer Grund valley to Gasthof Wegscheid - bus: Steinerbrücke" in Kelchsau valley
train: Hopfgarten Berglift
Guest card of the region = train ticket from Kirchbichl to Hochfilzen + bus ticket from Mariastein to Kitzbühel included!
Valid on ÖBB local trains (S, REX) and InterRegio trains (IR) between Kirchbichl - Wörgl and Hochfilzen.
Not valid on RJ, RJX, EC, IC, ICE, D and NJ/EN trains.
