Tour information
At Griesner Alm in Kaiserbachtal head left across a brook and follow the wide path towards Latschenbrennerei pine oil distillery. Just before the distillery, a narrow trail branches off to the right and into the forest. The trail climbs steeply, gaining altitude as it traces its way past the rock towers of Lärchegg and Mitterkaiser to Kleines Griesner Kar cirque. From the cirque hike to Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte (not serviced), a gorgeous old stone hut set in the middle of a rugged alpine landscape. The hut was built in memory of Fritz Pflaum, a prominent alpinist who loved the Wilder Kaiser mountains. The trail then zizags up between two precipitous peaks - Mitterkaiser and Predigtstuhl - to Grosses Griesner Kar cirque.

- Cash - Coming from Kitzbühel/St Johann on the B161, drive towards Salzburg. In St. Johann, leave the second roundabout on Salzburger Straße at the second exit. Take the exit left to Kössen/Schwendt and drive slightly uphill on the B176. You will next pass the Kirchdorf district of Gasteig and shortly afterwards you will reach Griesenau, where you turn left into Kaiserbachtal. After 650 m you reach the Kaiserbachtal toll station car park. Follow the toll road to the parking lot Griesner Alm (Kaiserbachtal 6)
Coming from Waidring/Erpfendorf/Kirchdorf, head towards St. Johann. Follow the B178 and turn right towards Kirchdorf. At the church in Kirchdorf take the Gasteiger Straße in the direction of Kössen/Schendt. Drive slightly uphill on the B176. You will then pass the Kirchdorf district of Gasteig and shortly afterwards you will reach Griesenau, where you turn left into Kaiserbachtal. After 650 m you will reach the Kaiserbachtal toll station car park. Follow the toll road to the parking lot Griesner Alm (Kaiserbachtal 6)
