Unconventional ideas and unrestrained richness of sound – with this, the trio Löschel/Skrepek/Zrost won the Hans Koller Prize in 1997 for their first album "While You Wait". Infinite two decades later, pianist Hannes Löschel, drummer Paul Skrepek, and saxophonist Martin Zrost come together again – and (inevitably?) they win again, this time the Ö1-Pasticcio Prize. Their second album tells an immensely imaginative story of the journey of the indomitable ship "Waldorf Hysteria" – navigating between shallows and monsters, nonsense and entertainment.
The attempt to force the music of Hannes Löschel, Paul Skrepek, and Martin Zrost into a schema and to stylistically define it is not fruitful – it comes to us too complex, too diverse. Instead, it invites us to pause, to open our ears for the moment, and to engage in a kaleidoscopic play that continually reshapes into new, often surprising forms. Additionally, it's also incredibly fun!
