For the 34rd time, the Blumencorso flower parade transforms Kirchberg into a colorful sea of blossoms. Over 25 imaginatively decorated flower floats and vintage cars parade through the town in the afternoon - decorated with more than 500,000 dahlias, gerberas, sunflowers and carnations. The artistic creations take up fairy tales, customs and current themes - and delight thousands of visitors year after year. The crowning glory is an atmospheric summer night festival in the town center - with music, culinary delights and good cheer.

What began as a small idea among friends in 1992 is now one of the largest flower parades in Austria. Back then, Paul Steindl, Toni Kahlbacher, Toni Widmoser and a few like-minded people drove from Hotel Sonne to the music pavilion in lovingly decorated cars full of local flowers. Accompanied by the Kirchberg band.
In the following years, “Schneewalzer” Pepi Jenewein took over the organization - and brought a breath of fresh air: for the first time, figures were built from polystyrene and decorated with flowers from Holland. The start moved to the valley station of the Gaisberg lift, and since then the parade has run through the entire town center. Thanks to Bergbahn AG, the Fleckalmbahn parking garage became the flower distribution center. Willi Leiter, then chairman of the horticultural association, took care of ordering and distribution as “flower boss” until 2006. What began with around 70,000 flowers grew over the years to more than half a million - from imaginative figures to flowery vintage cars.
The traditional radio station U1 provides a great atmosphere at the morning pint, while the summer night festival brings music, culinary delights and a good mood to the town center. And year after year, great prizes await at the big raffle.
An event that delights guests and locals alike. And makes the heart of Kirchberg bloom.
