Kupferplatte show mine

The show mine is a mining museum in Jochberg, very close to Kitzbühel. As far back as the Middle Ages, copper was being extracted around Kitzbühel and Jochberg. The mine consisted back then of a huge network of tunnels and shafts. A few years after the end of copper mining in 1926, the underground tunnels collapsed. The Grander family then took over the mine. Thanks to painstaking renovations from a specialist mining team, you can visit the show mine today.
