Tour information

The tour starts at the parking lot Kaiserbachtal. Along the hiking trail on the left side of the stream you hike into the valley. At the Fischbachalm you will find the mountaineers' chapel in memory of all those who died in the Kaisergebirge. Here you now hike about 300 meters along the toll road to the entrance of the Ranggenalm trail. The path leads you up to the Vorderen Ranggenalm. The hike now leads you partly through wooded alpine pastures, past the Großbärental, an impressive rock gorge, to the Obere Scheibenbichlalm. Take a look at the Wilder Kaiser every now and then, as the mighty mountain massif proudly presents its imposing peaks.
A visit to the summit cross at the Obere Scheibenbichlam is worthwhile; on a clear day, there is an impressive view all the way to Lake Chiemsee. Back to the Kaiserbachtal you hike along the forest road to the Untere Scheibenbichlalm. Along the road you can use shortcuts in very many places. Once you reach the toll road, hike about 800 meters out of the valley until you return to the starting point.

Getting there Coming from Kitzbühel/St Johann on the B161, drive towards Salzburg. In St. Johann, leave the second roundabout on Salzburger Straße at the second exit. Take the exit left to Kössen/Schwendt and drive slightly uphill on the B176. You will next pass the Kirchdorf district of Gasteig and shortly afterwards you will reach Griesenau, where you turn left into Kaiserbachtal. After 650 m you reach the Kaiserbachtal toll station car park.

Coming from Waidring/Erpfendorf/Kirchdorf, head towards St. Johann. Follow the B178 and turn right towards Kirchdorf. At the church in Kirchdorf take the Gasteiger Straße in the direction of Kössen/Schendt. Drive slightly uphill on the B176. You will then pass the Kirchdorf district of Gasteig and shortly afterwards you will reach Griesenau, where you turn left into Kaiserbachtal. After 650 m you will reach the Kaiserbachtal toll station car park.
