The 14-year-old Sun has successfully published a book – inspired by a story her late grandfather once told her: the almost incredible legend of the boy Hadara, who was separated from his caravan during a devastating sandstorm and is rescued by a group of ostriches. In the inhospitable vastness of the Sahara, he grows up far away from his family, accompanied only by his loyal companion, a young desert fox. When Sun is invited on a journey to the Sahara as part of an award ceremony for her book, she meets the same-aged nomad girl Kharouba there – and soon realizes that the legend of the desert child Hadara is much more than just a simple bedtime story…
