* For lunchtime a lot of rustic huts along the KAT Walk offer enticing places to stop off and eat (Opening times under news)! As it is not always possible to find somewhere on the nature-filled stages, you are welcome to consult your accommodation provider to buy a packed lunch from them.

** You will receive stage maps to take along in the detailed information booklet you receive after booking. You can also find all the hiking maps online with the Option for downloading GPX data for your GPS navigation. In addition, you can also find the KAT Walk in the Kitzbüheler Alpen East and Kitzbüheler Alpen West hiking maps - these can be purchased in all tourist information centres in the Kitzbüheler Alpen for Euro 6- per map (as of: April 2020).

To give you an overview, we compiled a list of the safety measures for a safe stay in the Kitzbühel Alps. Hiking without baggage

The Kitzbüheler Alpen offers a very special service for the KAT Walk long-distance hiking trail exclusively in all the complete hassle-free packages. Transporting luggage from stage finish to stage finish. This allows you to hike each daily route with virtually no baggage while still having everything you need for a relaxed holiday. As you want more on several days of hiking than what you can fit in a backpack, we offer our hikers a comprehensive luggage transport service in our KAT Walk packages. We will take care of transporting your belongings - as you want to be hiking and not trailing things about everywhere ;)

Just hand your luggage in the reception before 10:00 and after your hike it will be waiting at 15:00 at the latest in your next accommodation. One regular item of luggage up to a maximum of 15 kg per person can be transported. Should you need to have several items of luggage transported, this is available for a surcharge - simply request this in booking or order with the information team by 7 days before arrival at the latest at .

KAT Walk: Hiking with a dog

On all stages of the KAT Walk Alpine there is at least one accommodation provider that allows pets. </strong>When booking just click on "dogs welcome"</strong>. Please note that only one dog is accepted per booking. The trail is possible for dogs. The extra costs for the dog will be paid when you are there with the accommodation provider. For the KAT Walk Compact, taking dogs all the way is not possible. If you are prepared though to spend two nights' stay in one resort (to skip one resort), you can hike the KAT Walk Compact fully with a dog also. Please note: the first day of booking is always the arrival day with dinner that evening. Hiking follows every day from the next day. On the last day of hiking you will have another comfortable night's stay and after breakfast take a free return journey to the starting point.

  • You are most welcome to plan your tour individually! Rest days in between or extensions at the start are bookable. The KAT Walk team would be delighted to support you - just send an email to or call +43 57507 8500!

  • Cancellation or re-booking guarantee for the season 2022. So as to be able to enjoy anticipation of your holiday to the max in these uncertain times, we are offering all KAT bookers a corona-related FREE CANCELLATION or RE-BOOKINGGUARANTEE up to 7 days before arrival. You can change your booking to a set date later in 2022 or move your booking to an open date within the next 18 months.

    Other cancellations (not corona-related) can be made for free up to three months before arrival (according to the terms and conditions). After this costs are staggered (3 to 1 months before day of arrival 40 % of total package price due; 1 month to 1 week before day of arrival 70 % of total package price due; in the final week before arrival 90 % of total package price due).

  • Yes, absolutely! On the KAT Walk there are no obstacles for your dog, provided that the dog has enough fitness to complete it. On all stages of the KAT Walk Alpine there is at least one accommodation provider that allows pets. When booking just click on "dogs welcome" . The costs for the dog will be paid when you are there.

  • Yes, 99 % of our guests hike it at their own pace. The KAT Walk is signposted throughout with the KAT Walk logo. From us you will receive map material with detailed directions. You can also download GPX data for every stage from the interactive map of the Kitzbühel Alps.

  • Yes, once a year as part of the mountain summer opening of the Kitzbüheler Alpen (June). Should you be interested in booking a mountain hiking guide for your KAT Walk tour, we would be delighted to help you.

  • You can easily reach Hopfgarten im Brixental by train. There are also often "Sparschiene" offers. Rail travelers receive a pair of walking shoes for the living room as a thank-you gift upon presentation of their ticket. You can, of course, also arrive by car - with free parking spaces available. You will receive detailed information after booking.

  • You can very easily travel with your free Kitzbüheler Alpen guest card on public transport back to the starting point within an hour! We recommend taking the bus and train after enjoying a good breakfast at 10:02 from St. Ulrich to Fieberbrunn train station. The bus stop is just across the street from your hotel! In Fieberbrunn you can then take a train at 10:26. You will reach "the Hopfgarten im Brixental mountain lift" at 11:04 for the parking facilities in Hopfgarten or "Wörgl Hauptbahnhof" at 11:13 for a train station with international connections (As of: October 2021).
