The Salvenbahn proceeds from Hopfgarten to the intermediate station (1,157 m). Follow the signposts for Rigi, Hohe Salve and hike on the right-hand side beneath the cables right to Gasthaus Tenn. The route continues on a narrow path above the guesthouse to the third hairpin bend at the junction for Tennerwald 1,231 m. Bear right again and follow a short section on the road, continuing to Salvenalm, Rigi, Hohe Salve. After about one hundred metres, the route branches left on a steeper cart track.
Continue the ascent on this track through the forest and pastures to the Hohe Salve until you reach a wider forest trail. Three hairpin bends lead through open Alpine area to Kälberalm and Alpengasthaus Rigi (1,537m; 1 hour from the intermediate station). Continue on the steeper forest trail and several hairpin bends through the skiing area until you reach the summit of the Hohe Salve, which has a pilgrimage church and summit restaurant (1,829 m; 1 hour from Gasthof Rigi). The descent to Filzalmsee/Brixen continues via a path on the south-eastern side of
the summit, heading down in several hairpin bends to lake Salve, which is easy to make out. Just after the reservoir, come away from the trail onto a pasture path which proceeds via a ski piste to lake Filzalm. Stay on this route and continue down, always orienting yourself to the signs for Filzalmsee, Brixen. The lovely path soon leads into a section of forest and you hike past the little chapel Jordankapelle, which is the source of a spring.
Continue on through open terrain down to a forest trail which initially leads to Filzalm, (which is open for business) and to the lake of the same name. From here it is just a few metres to the intermediate station for the cable car (1 hour 15 mins from the Hohe Salve). Alternatively you can proceed from here by cable car to the destination for the stage in Brixen im Thale. On foot, just before the station, look for the signs for Hof, Brixen im Thale and hike on the right-hand side on route no. 95 back into the valley. Shortly after the route leads into the forest, it branches off
left to a steeper yet very well-tended hiking trail to Brixen. The trail goes down on both sides of a fosse through the forest. At the junction for Oberkaslach at 1,013 metres altitude several routes proceed to Brixen.
The route now proceeds left through the trench (follow the signposts for Brixen with the cable-car symbol). On the opposite side of the trench, hike next to the pasture, down to the asphalt road. Keep on this road heading down to the road to the village. Now on the left side, continue to the centre of Brixen im Thale (1 hour from the intermediate station in Hochbrixen).
