This stage of the KAT Walk Compact is a spectacular hike from the first step on. A journey on the gondola lift takes you straight to the Alpine pastureland underneath the Hohe Salve. A straightforward climb follows to the Hohe Salve, a mountain with some of the best views in Tirol. Right at the summit you will find Austria's highest pilgrimage church. The route down via the Salvensee and Filzalmsee lakes takes you on picturesque tracks. In Hochbrixen you can complete the descent by taking a gondola lift – or walk further on one track all the way down to Brixen im Thale with its imposing church with two steeples.

You grow to meet your goals. We have never before walked over elevation differences of over 1000 metres one day after another. After the second day we were a bit exhausted, but surprisingly it got better day by day and we were delighted to complete it!
