The new Jodlalmlift

The new 10-seater gondola lift in St. Johann in Tirol is set to go into operation in December 2026!

And accordingly, St. Johanner Bergbahnen cable car company is sending out a powerful message for the future of the St. Johann in Tirol ski area. Following a successful application for planning permission, the ‘Jodlalm Neu’ project has been able to head into the construction stage. The new 10-seater gondola will in future head right up to the Harschbichl (1603 m) . This marks the end of the present mountain station at the Jodlalm – and for the first time, there will be a direct, comfortable link up to the summit area. With a conveyance capacity of up to 2400 people per hour and a journey time of some seven minutes, the new installation will in future provide significantly greater comfort and efficiency. A new mono-cable gondola lift will replace the existing double chair lift from 1981, which has up to now been a bottleneck in the ski area.

Utmost comfort – ideal for families and ski schools
The state-of-the-art cabins are a clear advantage in terms of comfort and safety. The new cable car offers great benefits, especially for families and ski schools: Whereas in the previous 2-seater chairlift children were not able to travel unaccompanied, the gondola lift now can now be used safely and is straightforward, for families too. So for the first time, the Jodlalm is totally family-friendly.

Optimized route layout and state-of-the-art technology
During the re-construction, the tracks have also been realigned: The valley station is to be moved to a north-west direction, while the mountain station will be situated further uphill, directly on the Harschbichl. This will not only fundamentally improve accessibility, but the link to the existing piste network too.

Sustainable implementation and accompanying measures
As well as the new cable car, the project also includes targeted piste modifications and extensive environmental offsetting measures. The goal is for the implementation to be as environmentally-friendly as possible, in harmony with the natural surroundings. Total investment is currently estimated at around 22 million Euro. Commissioning is planned for the start of the season on 06 December 2026.
