Event information

The exhibition Ideelle Vergangenheit is not to be understood as a confrontation, but as a meeting of two artists who create realities in different ways.
The works of Bernard Embacher arise from engagement with surface, line, and form. Fragments come together to form dense compositions in which orders are formed, shifted, and newly stabilized. The pastels develop associations of landscapes and objects without creating distinct spaces or fixed assignments, maintaining a balance between structure and dissolution. Composition appears here as an open process – as a continual organization without final determination.

The collages of Timo Huber start from another point. The starting point is the seductive potential and the irritative power of everyday image worlds. Material found in an analog manner is dissected with precise cuts of the scalpel into individual elements, distorted, and overlapped. New, complex visual structures emerge, in which layers of reality with social and societal critical references overlap.

The title Ideelle Vergangenheit refers to a common movement of both positions: the past appears here not as something given, but as something constructed.
