Cultural treasure Teufelsgasse – the rock paintings in Kirchdorf in Tirol with Dr. Hubert Ilsinger and Markus Nothegger

Myths and legends gave the 3.4 km long path, lying between broken limestone rocks, its name. It runs between the slopes of the rugged rock faces, widening at some points into pathways and mostly runs at angles in a west-east direction.

Between the stony gorges, dozens of rock painting sites could be identified within six passages covering about 400 m2 of rock surfaces. The approximately 1300 individual rock carvings represent the highest number of rock paintings in Tirol. The time settings, the stories they tell us, and above all the beauty of how writings become images, make this cultural treasure a unique experience.

From the Teufelsgasse hiking parking lot or from the Okto hiking bus stop Teufelsgasse/Neustadl in Gasteig/Kirchdorf (Timetable Okto Hiking Bus) you will independently walk for about 60 minutes to the Teufelsgasse. There, Dr. Hubert Ilsinger and Markus Nothegger will provide you with extensive and extremely exciting insights into the rock carvings in the Teufelsgasse.

Dr. Hubert Ilsinger and Markus Nothegger will be on site in the Teufelsgasse from 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. and are looking forward to introducing you to this rare cultural treasure.

Participation is free for everyone, even without a guest card.

Equipment: Mountain or hiking shoes (no sneakers), appropriate clothing, drinks, small snack, rain jacket, sun protection, backpack, trekking poles

Registration: Registration is not required. Just come to the Teufelsgasse, marvel and listen.
