On the traces of the devil, you can hike in the Devil's Alley. It is truly a hidden gem as a hiking destination, which makes the hearts of explorers both young and old beat faster. This legendary rock gorge at Leerberg in Kirchdorf in Tirol captivates everyone.
The paid parking for the hike is located in the district of Hinterberg near Gasteig in Kirchdorf and is easily reachable by car. From here, the Devil's Alley is signposted.
At the beginning of the hike, you face an ascent of about 40 minutes along a forest road. A small field path then leads to the rock gorges on the plateau of Leerberg.
But what is it with the devil? According to legend, the devil himself struck the alley-like labyrinth into the rock to mislead sinful people and their souls. Many of his poor victims carved their names into the soft rock walls in their utmost distress to inform their loved ones and friends of their fate. It is said that the attentive hiker can still feel the lost souls in the Devil's Alley today and sometimes even hear their lamentation and weeping.
