Suitable for climbing fans! In St. Johann in Tirol two new via ferrata routes are waiting for you on the Kitzbüheler Horn. The re-designed routes are a source of fun for every performance-oriented sports person. Beginners can get a taste for this sport too on the practice via ferrata route. The dreamy panorama across the Kitzbüheler Alps makes the path a highlight. The view to the Wilder Kaiser and to the Lofer and Leogang Stone Mountains sets every mountaineers heart racing.

From the mountain station on the Harschbichl hike for some 20 minutes to the Kitzbüheler Horn until you reach the entrance to the practice via ferrata route. After a circuit over 100m in length (1 section C level) you are at the entrance again and continue hiking to the summit path.

After another quarter of an hour a big challenge awaits for every mountaineering buff – the summit path to the Kitzbüheler Horn! The start is close to the Ludwig-Scheibersteig path. At more than 350 m in length and 150 metres altitude, the path heads along the ridge to the summit. The via ferrata route reaches difficulty level C on several occasions. Once at the top, your efforts are rewarded with an impressive view to the Großglockner!

The straightest way along the rugged northern side to the top of Kitzbüheler Horn. This Via Ferrata offers grippy rock, steep climbs, exposed ridges and marvelous views. The tour is accompanied by a certified mountain guide to ensure you have a safe and fun Via Ferrata experience. Your guide will also teach you everything you need to know about Via Ferrata equipment and the right rope technique. Small groups allow for personalized attention and tailored instruction. We take the gondola to Harschbichl (please note: lift ticket is NOT included in the price!) from where it’s only a short walk to the entry of the Via Ferrata. We ascend the Via Ferrata to the peak where we enjoy magnificent views of the Wilder Kaiser range and the Kitzbüheler Alps all the way to the Hohe Tauern. This 4-hour tour is suitable for sporty hikers who are sure-footed and have a good head for heights. Duration: 5 hours Cost: € 40 per person for holders of the St. Johann Card (€ 55 without guest card) Not inlcuded: lift ticket €18, rental equipment and mountain cart ride €12 Cost for rental equipment (helmet, climbing harness, via ferratta set): € 9 per person; not included Equipment: Helmet*, climbing harness*, Via Ferrata set with energy absorber * (*available for rent if needed).
