Traditional pilgrimage route through the valley

Hike along spiritual paths and explore PillerseeTal on the Tyrolean Way of St James. The pilgrimage route leads through the resorts of Waidring, St. Ulrich am Pillersee, St. Jakob in Haus and Fieberbrunn and past numerous sights. The St. Adolari pilgrimage church at the start of Pillersee, the Way of the Cross that continues from Adolari to the village centre of St. Ulrich am Pillersee and the Jakobskreuz at the summit of Buchensteinwand, which is visible far and wide, are just some of the special features on this spiritual hike.

Way of Reflection

Short pilgrimage route in St. Jakob in Haus

On a section of the Way of St James a Way of Reflection has been created in the small resort of St. Jakob in Haus. The short pilgrimage route on the sunny side of the resort entices you to relax, embark on inner reflection and stock up on energy. Departing from the village fountain of the St. James's church, over a route of around two kilometres, symbols of the patron saint like shells, sticks and hats can be found on the edge of the trail to entice you into lingering and reflecting. Along the trail you will keep on finding symbols and marks of the pilgrims that have been lovingly planted and maintained.

Pinzgau Way of the Virgin

Pilgrimage route between Tirol and Salzburg

The Pinzgau Way of the Virgin leads from Jochbergwald via Mittersill and the Pinzgau pilgrimage locations of Stuhlfelden - Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse – Embach/Maria Elend - Maria Alm - Hochfilzen / PillerseeTal right to Maria Kirchenthal, where you meet the Way of St James at St. Martin/Lofer.

"The sophisticated" variation

Route: Leogang - Hochfilzen - Römersattel - Vorderkaserklam - Maria Kirchental
Difficulty: challenging, not quite as mountainous as the "Over mountain and valley" variation
Length: approx. 36 km

"Over mountain and valley" variation

Route: Stuhlfelden - Murnauer Scharte - Saalbach - Spielbergtörl - Hochfilzen - Römersattel - Vorderkaserklamm - Maria Kirchental
Difficulty: tough, for pilgrims with experience of mountains
Length: approx. 53 km
Elevation difference: 2,400 metres up
