Mariastein 04:00 PMfavorite_borderfavoriteMariastein is located on a peaceful high plateau and captivates with plenty of green areas, forests and that very special country-flair. Small but excellent, is the motto in Mariastein. With only some 400 inhabitants, the village is one of the smallest municipalities in all of Austria. High up on a 40m high rock, the village’s sacred site sits enthroned, the pilgrimage church. The impressive castle church is a popular daytrip destination in the Holiday Region Hohe Salve and also frequently visited by pilgrims. In summer as in winter, the castle courtyard is a very special location for a wide range of events. The pilgrimage site in the Kitzbühel Alps is a true power place and offers countless opportunities for enjoying active downtime. From cross-country skiing and hiking all the way to cycling - the holiday resort is sure to make your journey a perfect time out from the daily grind.

When the landscape wraps itself into a white frock, Mariastein transforms into a true paradise for cross-country skiers. Together with the neighbouring village of Angerberg, Mariastein has been awarded the Tirolean Cross-Country Ski Trail Seal of Quality. All those who like to swing down the pistes can take the ski bus directly to the entry point of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental.
