The Hohe Salve region and the Kitzbühel Alps with their wonderful hiking and walking trails offer plenty of space for free exercise in summer and winter.
In some areas, however, you must keep your four-legged darlings on a leash. A leash or muzzle obligation applies in built-up areas (=local area or core). Leashes and muzzles are compulsory in playgrounds, childcare and school facilities, on public transport and in public places where there are usually large gatherings of people. In addition, in some municipalities there may be other paths or places where leashes are compulsory. Please check with the respective municipality. The compulsory leash regulation applies to all dogs, except for registered assistance dogs, as well as service dogs, therapy assistance dogs on duty, etc.
The beautiful nature and mountain world is probably the most precious asset in the region Hohe Salve. As a dog owner, please help to keep the environment clean and dispose of dog excrement properly. In the Kitzbühel Alps you will find dog waste bag dispensers and rubbish bins at regular intervals along the walking and hiking trails. Please note that in Austria it is compulsory by law to pick up dog excrement. This regulation applies to all dogs, always and everywhere. The only exceptions are service dogs (hunting/rescue dogs) during service missions.
