Located in the heart of the PillerseeTal, the Buchensteinwand at an altitude of 1,456m, is the ideal location for mountain excursions and a panoramic view. The summit can be reached via beautiful hiking trails from Fieberbrunn, St. Jakob in Haus and Hochfilzen, but for a more comfortable ascent, you can take the Buchensteinwand four-seater chairlift! In addition to the wonderful view and Alpine flower trail, the 30-metre-high Jakobskreuz (the largest accessible summit cross in the world) attracts countless visitors from near and far. And from the viewing platform at the highest point of the Jakobskreuz, you are one step closer to heaven. The Bergbahn Pillersee/Buchensteinwand, which has been awarded the seal of quality - ”Best Austrian Summer Mountain Lifts", is included in the PillerseeTal Card as well as the Kitzbüheler Alpen Sommer Card and also offers special discounts with the Guest Card in the PillerseeTal!

Positioned in the centre of the PillerseeTal and visible from afar - the Buchensteinwand. In summer it entices in numerous hikers, mountain bikers and walkers, and offers panoramic views that are in a class of their own from the largest accessible summit cross in the world. From the Jacobskreuz viewing platform, there is an even better snapshot of the valley, and the peaks of the Wilder Kaiser, the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge, as well as the Kitzbüheler Horn seem close enough to touch. You can go high up to the Buchensteinwand either comfortably with the chair lift, by foot, or on a mountain bike. In addition to a breathtaking Panorama hiking trail, on the summit, there is a flower trail, a reservoir (fantastic photo opportunity!) and the Jakobskreuz for you to explore.
