A very special winter-experience is a visit to the world’s largest walk-in summit cross, the Jakobskreuz. High up on the summit of Buchensteinwand, right in the heart of PillerseeTal, sits enthroned the walk-in summit cross amidst the snowy winter scenery.
From the panoramic platform at some 30 m height, you have incredible views of the surrounding alpine world of the Kitzbühel Alps: from Wilder Kaiser, thee Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge all the way to Kitzbüheler Horn, the mountains here seem as within touching distance. Even Kitzsteinhorn, Grossvenediger and Grossglockner mountains can all be marvelled at from here.
The Jakobskreuz is located in the centre of the ski area Buchensteinwand and is easily accessible by chairlift.
