Flying high – with 1. FSV Mainz 05 in Hopfgarten in Tyrol and Mainz
Two gondolas. Two locations. A partnership that binds. The Mainz 05 gondolas are so much more than eye-catching branding. They are a visible symbol for a close, long-term partnership between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and the Region Hohe Salve tourism association. They combine sporting passion with the Alpine zest for life, exercise and emotion – and Tyrol with Mainz. In the place where winter sports enthusiasts and hikers are normally out and about, the culture of football is now meeting the mountains. And where the Bundesliga games are played, Region Hohe Salve has a long-term presence.
The first Mainz 05 gondola in Hopfgarten (since 2024)
At the first summer training camp for the professionals at 1. FSV Mainz 05 in Region Hohe Salve in 2024, there were celebrations in Hopfgarten for the first Mainz 05 gondola. Since then, they have been operating in section 1 of Hohe Salve cable cars, taking guests from the valley up into one of Tyrol’s loveliest mountains with superb panoramic views. The gondolas have been fully branded in the 1. FSV Mainz 05 design and since that time have been accompanying locals and holiday visitors every day as they make their way up to the top – to go hiking in the summer and in the winter, into one of the biggest interconnected ski areas in Austria, which comprises 275 kilometres of pistes.
The gondolas make the partnership tangible in day-to-day life. They create recognition, are topics of discussion and provide an emotional connection – both for football fans and for guests who might be discovering Mainz 05 for the first time.
The Mainz 05 x Hohe Salve gondola at the MEWA ARENA (since 2025)
Located right by the east stand, it’s hard to miss: the original gondola from the Salvenbahn Hopfgarten, redesigned in Mainz 05 style. What usually travels high above the Tyrolean mountains is now a permanent feature of the MEWA ARENA – and a real eye-catcher for fans. Since the PR campaign in autumn 2025, the gondola has been firmly installed in the stadium, bringing a touch of alpine mountain scenery to Mainz. It uniquely connects nature and football – symbolizing movement, time out, and a change of perspective.
What makes it special: For every home game, two exclusive seats in the gondola are raffled off. Fans experience the match from an extraordinary perspective – right in the stadium, yet in their own little “mountain world.” The competition and entry form are available only on the German website.
