Bell exhibition and bell trail in Waidring

The futuristic Biatron at the Steinplatte cable car car park houses the bell exhibition and marks the starting point for the bell adventure trail. Bell founding has a long tradition in Waidring. To this day, bells are crafted by hand with great precision in this small municipality at the foot of the Steinplatte. Glockendorf Tirol is completely dedicated to this heritage, offering everything from casting demonstrations and an interactive exhibition to the bell adventure trail.

THE EXHIBITION
Inside the giant dome of the Biatron, visitors can experience far more than just bells. Spread across six levels, the exhibition explores everything from the casting process and the diverse uses of bells to unique “audible sights.” In addition, several truly precious artifacts are on display, including the historic church clock from the local parish church. One of the absolute highlights is undoubtedly the nearly four-metre-high dome clock crafted by local farmer and clockmaker Josef Hauser.

THE BELL ADVENTURE TRAIL
On the bell adventure trail, you can learn facts about the history of bell casting, the special features of the Waidringer bell casters and one or two anecdotes at the different stations along the trail.
The trail leads from the biatron, towards the valley station of the Bergbahnen Waidring and finishes in the village centre.

SHOW CASTING
Starting from the exhibition, the bell adventure trail leads towards the village centre. At various stations along the way, visitors learn about the unique craft of Waidring’s bell foundries, accompanied by intriguing insights into the town’s history and entertaining local anecdotes. The route continues past the Lugmair bell foundry house to the parish church, whose five-bell peal is renowned far and wide for its beautiful resonance.
