The 2nd exhibition of this year is dedicated to Sevda Chtoutova. For twenty years now, the internationally renowned artist has been drawing to process her own history and picks the female body out as a central theme in her partly large-size drawings. Born in Bulgaria, Sevda Chkoutova went to Austria after completing her schooling at the art high school in Sofia to start a new life here. In Vienna she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with the American artist Sue Williams and with Hubert Schmalix.
The title of the exhibition refers to the story told in the film "Tür zu" (close the door) which will celebrate its premiere at the Polylog gallery. Chkoutova's first animated film ends with a happy dance. It is about the reconquest and liberation of female desire and the sensuality of the body after patriarchal experiences of violence. The theme of the dance is continued in drawings and a wall piece in the exhibition
