Westendorf’s Circular Walk – Route No. 1
Allow us to show you the charming surroundings of Westendorf. This beautiful panoramic circular walk on the sunny plateau takes us through meadows and forests, past old farmhouses, through several hamlets and to numerous sights and attractions eg. chapels, bread ovens, wells etc. This walk is also very suitable for Nordic-Walking and running. We depart from the Tourist Information Office and for the duration of the tour, follow the Walking Route No. 1 (Wanderweg Nr. 1). Walking along Schulgasse, we pass the tennis courts on our left, arriving in the district of Bichling after crossing a meadow path. At the Schermerhof we turn to the right, and continue uphill until we come to a fork in the path, to the left “Achenberg” and to the right “Wohlfülhweg” (Well-Being Trail). We take the right-hand path to the Well-Being Trail / Bruchstall. Passing under the Alpenrosenbahn gondolas and continuing on the trail, we arrive at the Neuhäuslhof chapel. Here we turn to the left and after a short distance on the road, a signpost directs us onto a forest trail to our right. Remaining on this beautiful trail for approx. 2 km, we arrive at the football stadium, at the end of which we keep to the right. After crossing through the Auner forest we arrive at the Aunerhof. At this point we branch off to the left and walk along the road in “Au” – a magnificent “panorama loop”, passing beautiful old farmhouses. At the end of the loop, we cross the road and walk along a forest path to the Rainbichlhof. Here we turn to the left and eventually arrive at the B170 having passed the water treatment plant enroute. We cross this road arriving in the hamlet, Feichten. Walking through this beautiful area, we arrive at the “Haaskapelle” (chapel) where we branch off onto a farm track bringing us to “Straßhaeusl”. As soon as we reach the asphalt road again, we continue onwards to the right for a short stretch downhill. Then pass through the pedestrian tunnel which runs under the railway track. Once again we cross the B170, walk through a small residential area, “Muehltal”, then leaving the asphalt road just before a small car repair garage on our left, we follow a slightly uphill trail. At the end of this, we turn to the left and follow the footpath back to Westendorf’s village centre.
