Start in Söll (Jausenstation Lederer). Walk for about 80 m along the road and turn left towards Itter. Now follow this road, pass the Salvista cable car and walk on until shortly before Itter where the road meets another one coming from below. Now cross the road and walk on straight ahead through a settlement until you get to the village well. North of the well keep to the right and at the junction after approx. 150 m walk through the forest down to the main road. Cross the road and after 20 m walk uphill to a farmhouse. From there a tarmacked agricultural road leads westwards parallel to the main road until it ends in it. Now walk along the main road for another 100m. Follow then the path leading to the Brixentaler Ache river and walk along the river until Bruckhäusl. Cross the bridge to the left side of the river and walk along that track until the bridge Grattenbrücke. A rewarding detour leads to the so-called Marienkirche, a small church situated on top of the hill “Grattenbergl”. The detour takes about 20 – 30 minutes both ways.
The following route takes you to Wörgl and the pilgrimage site Mariastein. At the “Grattenbrücke” bridge (cross the bridge in case of a detour to Grattenbergl), stay right of the railroad and walk on to the west past the railway station until you get to a junction. Turn left to visit the town centre of Wörgl, otherwise keep to the right and cross the narrow bridge “Innsteg” over the river Inn. Now keep to the left and walk uphill along the gravel path. Follow the road to the west and turn to the right at the sharp turn to get on the way to the popular pilgrims’ site Mariastein. Coming from Kufstein, the pilgrims’ trail leads directly past the pilgrimage church. From here you have to walk via the districts Achleit, Linden, Edwald and Strass to Mariastein.
To follow the Way of St. James westwards, keep to the left at the sharp turn and before the road leads over the river turn right, into an agricultural track at the edge of the forest, which leads uphill to the district Achleit (Angerberg). At Vorderhof (pilgrims’ hostel) pass through the two farm buildings and walk slightly downhill right behind them, then uphill again in north-west direction. Pass through the farm buildings at the next farmstead as well and walk downhill to the edge of the forest. From there the route leads uphill again, always westwards, until you get to an asphalt road which takes you left past a farm and a small hamlet (Thal) towards Breitenbach.
