From Hopfgarten, the second stage of the TransKitzAlp leads first of all onto a side road, which takes you to the sunny plateau of the Penningberg. From there, you continue on to the valley head at the end of the road. Then the ascent begins to the Haag-Alm (1,350 m). The descent from the Haagalm to Kelchsau is rich in varied scenery.
Afterwards, you cycle further down to the cable car valley station at Kelchsau, and from there you head up on the Zillfeldweg as far as the "Toif" farm which has glorious views. After arriving just below the Glantererkogel (1,434m), you will have to push your bike a few metres in order to reach the Windautal valley. Then it's a speedy route down to Angerla-Alm, continuing on a forest trail into the valley and turning right towards Kinzling Alm.
After another short climb, the descent begins into the beautiful Windautal. The last few kilometres lead – without any appreciable loss of height – along a small road into the village of Westendorf and finally onto the Brixental cycle path towards the end of the stage in Brixen im Thale.
