To Brixen via Achenberg
Meeting at the Tourist Information Office in the Schulgasse, Westendorf, we begin our walk from here. Following the road in an easterly direction, we pass the tennis courts and the Wastlhof, and after crossing a meadow path arrive in the district of Bichling. At the Schermerhof, we take the uphill road on our right-hand side. A signpost for the Zieplhof and the Wohlfühlweg (Well-Being Trail) can be seen at the end of this ascent. However, we go to the left, through a gate and follow a flat meadow path as far as the rural hamlet of Achenberg. Following the asphalt road downhill, we come to a slightly uphill road veering to the right. This we take as far as the first right-hand bend, where we branch off to the left, through a large gate onto a woodland path. Directly below the gondola station, this path merges with a forest road. (If you follow this road, you come to the Santenbachalm). However, we continue downhill (left), pass another junction (Kandleralm) until we get to the asphalt road “Brixental Cycle/Walking path”. If you would like to go to Brixen im Thale or to the Hochbrixen gondola station, keep to the right here. We keep to the left, walk along the cycle path which eventually merges into the Bichlingersträße in the direction of Westendorf. The first turn to the left in the Bichling district takes us past an old bread oven, back to the Schermerhof. At this stage we have completed the circuit and we return via the meadow path to our original departure point. This route is also very suitable for Nordic-Walking or running.
