Summit Round-Trip Hike - Floch

Note
For this hike we can use the Alpenrosenbahn gondola in Westendorf to assist us.  We begin the hike at the mountain-top station.
First we hike via the Einködlscharte and Kreuzjöchlsee (lake) to Brechhornhaus. There we follow the signs to "Brechhorn". After a short descent we reach a saddle - there we keep to the right slightly downhill where we arrive at an Alpine meadow path to the Schledernalm and the Brandeggalm. At the Brandeggalm we leave the path and turn right onto the hiking trail (No. 82).  This leads us continuously uphill to the saddle after the Brechhorn and onwards to the summit of the Floch.   We stop for a while at Westendorf’s  “Schützen” company’s magnificent summit cross and enjoy the great mountain panorama and a well-earned snack!
Continuing along the ridge in a southerly direction, we descent along the steep trail to the valley in front of the Gassnerkogel.   A short detour to the Gassnerkogel summit is well worthwhile particularly due to its beautiful summit cross!   From the valley, we keep to the right again in a northerly direction and following the Alpine trail we arrive at the Miesfankalm!  From these pastures we stay on this gravel path for a considerable distance.  After a short stretch of forest, look out for the turn to the right leading to the Brandeggalm.  Due to the many imprints of grazing cows on the terrain, this trail is somewhat difficult to follow in some places!  Below the Brandeggalm we arrive on a farm track and subsequently at the Brandeggalm – where our round trip concludes!
As an alternative, from the Miesfankalm, you can continue the hike to the Schönaualm and from there follow the Alpine trail to the Gasthof Schrandlhof, Westendorf.
