Summit hike to Brechhorn (Starting from Schrandlhof – Inn)
There are various starting points for the hike to Brechhorn. You can, for example, take the Alpenrosenbahn as far as the middle station (then hike via the waterfall route – Fleidingalm – Brechhorn house – summit) or as far as the mountain station (then hike via Brechhorn house – summit). We have chosen the Schrandlhof Inn as our starting point. Just beyond the inn you will find a car park – if you wish to park here, please ask for permission to do so! From Schrandlhof, keeping to the right, we take the asphalt road a short stretch uphill. At the fork in the road, we keep to the right, following the signs for “Windaubergalm/Schledernalm”. This road passes by a farm, in a small, narrow hiking trail. After a somewhat steeper rise, we come to a forest trail beside some nice mountain huts, which we must pass. We look out for the next sign post which keeps us to the left and guides us uphill over pastures to the Windaubergalm. Once here, we find ourselves again, on a forest trail which we follow a short way downhill. Taking a sharp right-hand bend, we continue on our route to the Schledernalm. From the Schledernalm we follow the forest trail to the Brandeggalm and further to the left to the Feldbergalm. From this alm (pasture) we follow a beautiful mountainous trail directly to the Brechhorn summit. Awaiting us here is the most wonderful, breath-taking mountain panorama. For the descent, we choose the route to the Brechhorn house, where we can call in for some well-earned refreshments. The remaining descent we can further enjoy by keeping to the forest road in the direction of the “Fleidingalm” and then on to the “Schrandlhof Inn’”.
