Roses' Walk Itter (No. 4)
A leisurely walk for the whole family. Let yourself get enchanted by the great variety and beauty of roses. Rose-like plants are said to have existed for more than 30 million years, but they have only been officially known for 4000 years. In Persia roses were used to make rose-oil and at any festivities they were a must. Monks brought them to the alpine region. Start your walk at the village square and follow the sign-posted route (Rosenweg) which starts behind the inn Ittererwirt. From the viewing platform the tour leads you on past wild roses along the wayside and the most beautiful plants in various farm gardens. The walk leads past a pond full of water lilies which is the perfect spot for a rest before you return to the village square through the beautiful small village of Itter.
