Start the tour in Hopfgarten and go by cable car to the middle station at 1182 m above sea level. Follow the sign-posted forest path to the new reservoir, “Neuer Speicherteich”. The view from there is breath-taking – you see the whole Brixental valley and the surrounding mountains, and if you are lucky with the weather, even some snow-covered peaks in the distance.
The wooden loungers beckon to have a rest and relax. Children have fun with the water pump.
Continue your tour uphill to lake Salvensee right at the foot of the summit of the Hohe Salve. Also here you have the chance to put your feet up and recharge your batteries for the rest of the tour. Now the tour now leads from the Brixental facing side round to Söll where you’ll be treated to the sight of the Wilder Kaiser with its rough and impressive rock formations. The next stop is planned at the Rigi alpine inn where the innkeepers will treat you to regional delicacies such as “Käsespätzle” (cheese spaetzle) or Pressknödel (flat cheese dumplings). On the terrace you can once more enjoy the unique panorama before continuing downhill towards the middle station,
On Wednesdays the innkeepers of the summit restaurant offer a very delicious speciality – “Kiachl”, fried dough delicacies served with cranberry jam or sauerkraut. So, once arrived at the middle station, why not take the cable car to the summit and enjoy this Tyrolean specialties while sitting on the rotating 360° panorama terrace at 1.829m above sea level.
