Cable car hike - Westendorf – Hopfgarten – Hohe Salve – Söll – Brixen
We begin this very diversified round trip of the Hohe Salve, in Westendorf’s village centre. Passing through the Unterdorf, we walk along a wide trail, passing the water treatment centre, to the Rainbichlhof. Following the asphalt road, we walk onwards to the Aunerhof and then to the chicken farm, Koglerhof. On our left-hand side, between the Koglerhof and the Thalerbauer, a steep path brings us downhill to the main road. Crossing the road, we follow a woodland path, meet up with an asphalt road, which we take to the left and arrive at the lower gondola station in Hopfgarten. Travelling in comfort, the gondola takes us to the top of the Hohe Salve. Enjoy the 360° panoramic views of 72 mountain summits in excess of 3,000 meters. A visit to the pilgrimage church is, of course, a “must”, as are refreshments in the mountain-top restaurant. Moving on, we take the Söll gondola down to the middle station where it’s well worth a visit to the “Hexenwasser” (witch’s water) adventure park. Our hike continues in the direction of the Filzalm Lake, where we arrive in approx. one hour. A beautiful theme park has also been developed here and one should really take the time to investigate all the magnificent attractions. This time we descend with the Hochbrixen gondola to the valley floor, walk to the Fischerstadl and branch off to the right onto the Brixentaler cycle/walking path. Following this path we come into the district of Bichling in Westendorf. After a few more minutes we find ourselves in the village centre once again.
