The mountains of Tyrol: The most scenic peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alpen

The numerous peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alpen all have their own distinctive features. While by the Wilder Kaiser and in the Kaiser mountains you mainly hike along craggy and scabbed trails, in the Windautal and in the Kelchsau more gentle grassy mountains await. On your holidays in the Kitzbüheler Alpen you can scale a different peak every day and enjoy the beautiful alpine world. Be it with the help of cable cars or without, each peak has its own charm beckoning to rest and savor. For ambitious hikers, there are also more challenging summit hikes. The highest peak in the Kitzbüheler Alpen - The Torhelm

An insiders' tip in the Tyrolean lowlands. The Torhelm in the head of the valley of the Langer Grund in the Kelchsau is the highest "hikeable" peak (2,494 m) of the Kitzbüheler Alpen and is thus guaranteed to provide superb panoramic views. The Torhelm can be scaled from the Kelchsau as well as from Zillertal valley. On the summit of the Torhelm is a large wooden cross, erected in 1978. A bronze plaque on the summit has the following nice quote inscribed:"Take it when his hand is offered, for you need not be cautious. The man who loves his mountains is always straight and true."In winter and even more often in spring, the Torhelm is a very popular ski touring destination. The ascent at Frin is usually possible until the end of May.
