World's Best Obstacle Race in Oberndorf in Tirol!
AROO! AROO! AROO! The emphatic battle cry of the Spartans. For some years now, motivated Spartans have been meeting in Oberndorf in Tirol in September for this mega event. The Spartan Race is an obstacle race, during which, as well as running, there are also different obstacles to negotiate. There is the Spartan wood walls and ‘Tyrolean Traverse’ to negotiate, crawling through mud pits and under barbed wire, throwing spears, carrying heavy chains and even jumping over "finish line of fire". It is a sporting adventure for everyone! Here top athletes and leisure sports fans and activity-oriented people who love exercise meet up... Being here is everything!
With the impressive backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn in Oberndorf in Tirol, the biggest race of its kind takes place, with three Spartan distances Sprint (5+ km), Super (13+ km) and the ultimate discipline Beast (20+ km). This year the European Championships are to be held too.

Once again this year there will be a Spectator Shuttle, which will take spectators on Saturday and Sunday from Oberndorf (Gasthof Neuwirt) to the Harschbichl valley station for the SkiStar St. Johann in Tirol cable car at regular intervals. The combi ticket for bus & cable car costs € 17.00 and is available direct at the stop at Gasthof Neuwirt. Thanks to this ticket, excited spectators will be able to cheer on their athletes not just in the valley, but directly on the mountain too.
The Spartan Race was originally started in Vermont (USA) to broaden the inspiration of Obstacle Course Racing. In the meantime there are now 130 races in 15 countries on all six continents across the globe. The races provide something for every level of fitness and are therefore intended for everyone, whether they are a couch potato or Olympian, everyone is guaranteed to enjoy their own personal experience at the Spartan Race.
