Herbs and Mountain pastures hike

This hike takes us along the Stations of the Cross trail to the Weeping Virgin Mary hermitage. The trail features a series of wooden sculptures that were made by the local artist Horst Pali. The hermitage is Tirol’s last occupied hermitage and has been providing shelter to Christian hermits for the last 300 years. From the hermitage we walk through meadows, forests and pastures to friendly Bacherlam. Along the way we will learn about the flora and fauna found on Niederkaiser Ridge. The dairy woman at Bacheralm is a certified herbalist. Over a cup of homemade herbal infusion she will teach us about the use of local herbs.

From Bacheralm we head down to Gasteig where we catch a cab back to St. Johann in Tirol.

Hiking guides may change the tour program at their discretion due to adverse weather conditions and/or participants’ experience levels.
Hikers who show up with inappropriate gear will not be allowed to join the tour!

All guided hikes are free of charge with St. Johann Card (without guest card € 10). Discounts with guest card from the regions St. Johann in Tirol, PillerseeTal, Brixental and Hohe Salve. Any cost for mountain lifts must be paid by the participants themselves. Dogs are not allowed!

Equipment: sturdy hiking boots (no trainers), appropriate clothing, water, snacks, rainwear, sun screen/sun protection, backpack, hiking poles (hiking poles can be rented at the tourist office)
