Rules of conduct for road riding and mountain biking

To enjoy a safe mountain bike holiday in the Kitzbüheler Alpen, there are certain rules of conduct to pay heed to while mountain biking and road riding. After storms paths may be impassable and stones or trees may block the route. Also be aware that there may be vehicles on many mountain bike routes. Rules of conduct for mountain bike routes in the Kitzbüheler Alpen can be found here.

Rules of conduct for road riding and mountain biking

  • Always ride at a controlled speed and be aware that you may encounter obstacles at any time, especially round bends (e.g. damage to cycle tracks, stones, branches, temporarily stored wood, grazing cattle, cattle grids, barriers, tractors/forest machinery, authorised vehicles).
  • Be aware that there may be hikers and pedestrians and only overtake at walking pace.
  • Pay attention to the difficulty level of a route and make a proper assessment of your experience and ability level as a rider! Protect your head by wearing a helmet and inspect your equipment before starting out on any bike tour (brakes, bell, light).
  • Stop at barriers and accept that the route may, first and foremost, be intended for agricultural and forestry use. Close field gates.
  • Be aware of the natural surroundings and look out for animals; do not leave the marked route, avoid riding off the paths provided and finish your bike tour before dusk.
  • Do not leave any rubbish behind.
