Monday to Friday (June through to October), free guided hikes are on offer in St. Johann in Tirol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf. Experience really lovely moments together with our qualified mountain guides and mountain hiking guides. There is no charge for taking part in the hikes (except transfer and cable car costs). Registration not required, dogs are not allowed. The exact weekly hiking programm, with an outline of the hiking routes, is available from your accommodation provider and in the local tourist offices. Be shown the loveliest nooks in the Kitzbüheler Alpen and discover the really fascinating mountains in Tirol.

This hike along the Bichlach plateau, which is characterized by farming use, takes us past traditional farmhouses and pretty ponds where benches invite us to take a break and enjoy the picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. A scenic trail takes us through a beautiful moorland to pristine Lake Schwarzsee in Kitzbühel, Tirol’s largest moor lake. Don’t forget to bring your swimming gear! Taxi to Waidring. The Via Ferrata on Steinplatte offers stunning panoramic views all the way to Großglockner and Großvenediger. The trail to the Via Ferrata is mostly easy, with only the last part to the foot of Steinplatte being a little steeper. At the end of the Via Ferrata we continue to the peak of Plattenkogel where we enjoy the magnificent views. This hike takes us along the Stations of the Cross trail to the Weeping Virgin Mary hermitage. The trail features a series of wooden sculptures that were made by the local artist Horst Pali. The hermitage is Tirol’s last occupied hermitage and has been providing shelter to Christian hermits for the last 300 years. From the hermitage we walk through meadows, forests and pastures to friendly Bacherlam. Along the way we will learn about the flora and fauna found on Niederkaiser Ridge. The dairy woman at Bacheralm is a certified herbalist. Over a cup of homemade herbal infusion she will teach us about the use of local herbs. From Bacheralm we head down to Gasteig where we catch a cab back to St. Johann in Tirol. This tour starts at Fischbachalm in the pristine Kaiserbachtal nature preserve. The trail climbs steeply to Kleines Griesner Kar, a rock-strewn cirque. The route then traces a way roughly through the middle of an extremely steep scree slope. At the most difficult spot a cable has been fixed to which climbers must attach themselves. Afterwards you will continue the ascend roped to the mountain guide. The effort is rewarded with magnificent panorama views of Lake Chiemsee, the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge, the Kitzbüheler Alps and the Kaiser mountains. After a rest, we descend back to the cirque, circumvent Mitterkaiser and continue down via Fritz Pflaum Hütte to Griesner Alm. This strenuous loop offers spectacular views from one of the Kaiser’s most quiet peaks. The straightest way along the rugged northern side to the top of Kitzbüheler Horn. This Via Ferrata offers grippy rock, steep climbs, exposed ridges and marvelous views.
