A contemporary interpreta4on of Tyrolean cuisine
In May 2016, the Blumschein family took over the Wirtshaus und Hotel Post in the center of
St. Johann, Tyrol. With great sensi4vity, they have transformed the newly adapted, over 721-
year-old historic building into a mee4ng place with heart and soul for both holidaymakers
and locals. In keeping with the moMo "We give people joy", the en4re Post team around
hosts Sigrid and Maximilian Blumschein lovingly look aQer their guests.

Secret ingredients: Passion and innova4on
Wirtshaus Post is characterized by authen4c Tyrolean dishes that are interpreted in a
contemporary way. Benjamin Leitner belongs to the young - "wild" - genera4on of chefs who
know how to liven up tradi4onal tavern fare with modern accents. The menu ranges from
tradi4onal classics such as Oma Resi's ErdäpfelblaMln and beef goulash from the Brunnhof in
St. Johann to innova4ve crea4ons such as Tyrolean surf & turf (a curried beef sausage with
scampi and chips). Depending on the 4me of year, the regional dishes are complemented by
seasonal special4es. The inn is a member of the KochArt associa4on. This collec4ve from the
Kitzbühel Alps focuses on the use of local quality products. Par4cular aMen4on is paid to
rediscovering forgoMen special4es of regional and Austrian cuisine.

Inn awarded with a toque
The four charming Tyrolean parlors of the Wirtshaus Post radiate a pleasant warmth with
their Swiss stone pine wood. The aMen4on to detail that runs through the culinary offer and
the furnishings, as well as the warmth of the en4re Post team, make the inn a pleasant place
to stay. Thanks to personal recommenda4ons from the sommelier and host of the house,
Maximilian Blumschein, even discerning wine connoisseurs get their money's worth. The
efforts to modernize the classic tavern entrance are not only appreciated by the posi4ve
feedback from guests. In the fall of 2018, Falstaff took no4ce of the dynamic Blumschein
family and awarded the Wirtshaus Post with a fork. This was followed in 2019 by the first
Gault Millau ra4ng. The restaurant achieved 12.5 out of 20 points in 2023, earning itself a
toque.
