Like this, summer holidays become true child’s play

In the Kitzbüheler Alpen, families get going

Modern, contemporary, child-friendly, exciting and varied: That’s what family holidays in the mountains look like these days – at least in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Because the four holiday regions of Brixental, St. Johann in Tirol, Hohe Salve and PillerseeTal are considered true specialists when it comes to making the best days and weeks of the year an unforgettable experience for all family members.

Long gone are the times when the head of the family strode towards the peak and the rest of the family grudgingly followed. The Kitzbüheler Alpen today offer an activity programme for the whole family, which includes sports, excitement and adventure as well as relaxation and indulgence. After all, the mountains are the perfect terrain in which everyone gets their money’s worth. And as varied as the preferences of the guests are the options.

Who says hiking has to be boring? The Kitzbüheler Alpen have prepared numerous hiking trails specifically for families. Getting up to lofty heights is often just a matter of taking the cable car and once at the top, not only wonderful hikes but impressive views also await. But because Alpine panoramas alone won’t capture the offspring’s imagination for long, there are the alpine adventure worlds of the Kitzbüheler Alpen. They fascinate old and young, big and small. The Triassic Park on the Steinplatte in Waidring in PillerseeTal, for example, provides an exciting look into the history book of the world, and Timoks Alm in nearby Fieberbrunn awaits with an exciting trail with many stations, which allow for lively interaction. The Witches’ Water in Söll, the mother of all adventure worlds, delights dam builders and water friends, the Hohe Salve fascinates as a place of power and Tyrol’s most scenic panoramic mountain. The climbing forest Hornpark in St. Johann in Tirol requires courage and skill, while the Filzalmsee in Hochbrixen scores with its panoramic circular routes. You can find out about the secrets of the animals in the mountains at Alpinolino in Westendorf. A beastly time can also be had on the “GoasBerg Quiz Tour“ in Kirchberg. All new is the rITTERspielplatz (knight’s playground) in the Holiday Region Hohe Salve, which makes accessible a children’s eldorado around a playing castle.

The range of options for families is completed with a number of bathing and mountain lakes, bike routes and a wide range of sports options, ranging from via ferratas to tennis courts and football areas. And should the sun not shine for once, the fun continues indoors. In the Wörgler WaterWorld, a unique double-looping waterslide ensures no end of thrills.

In addition, every region provides an extensive children’s holiday programme from Monday to Friday with numerous options for active participation. In PillerseeTal and in Brixental, this summer everyone listens to the command of Manni the Mudmonster. Both regions are now members of the Tyrolean Family Nests and impress with their expertise in catering to children, bound by strict criteria. And this summer, you can expect many a surprise with Manni.

The family budget, however, will be spared from any unpleasant surprises when on family holidays in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. So it, too, can truly relax. The Kitzbüheler Alpen Summer Card in particular contributes to this. This Open Sesame frees the way up the mountains. It allows holders to use each and every one of the 31 summer lifts in the Kitzbüheler Alpen, allowing easy and comfortable access to all exciting mountain adventure worlds. But bathing lakes, museums and sport events organisers also grant cardholders discounts of up to 50 percent.

With so many mountain adventure world’s, all that’s missing is suitable accommodation. And in this respect, too, family holidays in the Kitzbüheler Alpen are child’s play. Family-friendly establishments can be found in all categories – from exciting holidays on the farm to family hotels with all-inclusive. Sustenance is provided not only by these establishments, but also by numerous rustic taverns, mountain lodges and cafés. Numbering among the special treats of the region are the 23 KochArt-establishments, which have made it their mission to serve up local dishes from regional produce.
