Award-winning Tyrol Winter Headquarters just over the border

A truly excellent ski- and winter adventure awaits both large and small snow fans in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. The ski areas again won top ratings from well-known test portals in various categories for best services: multiple awards from, Skiareatest, Snowplaza, the ADAC SKI Guide and the World Ski Award.

The entire variety of nine ski areas is included in the Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard: This Premium Ski pass is valid for 357 cable cars and lifts and for more than 1000 km of ski runs – including the glacier ski area of Kitzsteinhorn. The Ski pass association includes the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental and the Ski Mecca Kitzbühel-Kirchberg, the Schneewinkel area with St. Johann in Tirol and surrounding villages as well as the ski resorts in the PillerseeTal. In addition, the Skicircus of Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is a partner of the AllStarCard, Zell am See-Kaprun and the Skijuwel Alpbachtal - Wildschönau. Thus, the two largest interconnected ski areas of Austria (SkiWelt and Skicircus) are included in the Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard. Even 85% of the ski runs in the AllStarCard Ski Network have artificial snow-making equipment, and 294 ski huts provide an inviting respite.

The 20 villages in the four holiday regions of PillerseeTal, St. Johann in Tyrol, Brixental (Brixen – Kirchberg – Westendorf) and Hohe Salve region score high marks with their down-to-earth Tyrolean hospitality, family-friendliness and a great selection of lodging for any holiday budget. All villages in the Kitzbüheler Alpen can be reached directly via the motorway and rail. For those arriving by car from the North the Kitzbüheler Alpen is the first large ski region in Austria. It’s a maximum of 1 ½ hours driving from the airports at Munich, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

A Full Schedule, Full Relaxation - Kitzbühel Alps

The more than 1,000 km of ski runs in the Kitzbüheler Alpen offer a very wide field of activity. Indeed, the four holiday regions additionally provide a full program for your holiday time. Besides night skiing, there is also torchlight and snowshoe tours, horse sleigh excursions, toboggan runs and ice curling events in the program. The cross-country beginner courses in Westendorf, Angerberg and St. Ulrich am Pillersee are highly recommended. In addition, ice-climbing in the Ice-Park at Gaisberg-mountain in Kirchberg also promises some excitement. Biathletes have their weekly events in Hochfilzen, in the Koasa Stadium in St. Johann in Tyrol, or in Erpfendorf. And the Husky Ranch in Angerberg is always worth a visit – not just for children. A family fun and game program such as Flying Fox, toboggans, snow tubing, bowling, indoor climbing and indoor archery. All attractions are available weekly or on demand– and mostly free for guests of the particular holiday region.

Kitzbüheler Alpen “on top”: From the Mountain New Year to the Alpine Igloo

There are exactly 294 ski huts in the mountains where you can apply a braking maneuver in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. Whoever is looking for marvelous views of the mountains and exquisite “insight” into the Tyrol Hut Kitchens can be satisfied on average every four kilometers along the runs. The ski huts mostly emerged from small summer huts – and thus they are still as rustic as then. From St. Johann in Tyrol the Harschbichl gondola leads up to just beneath the highest peak of the Kitzbühel Horn (1,996 m) with its “Panorama view” of the Wilder Kaiser, the Lofer Steinberge and the Hohe Tauern. The Angerer Alm at Annemarie Foidl is likewise located above St. Johann at the Kitzbüheler Horn and has the highest wine cellar in the Tyrol. Fellow deers welcome you at the famous mountain restaurant Wildalpgatterl high above Fieberbrunn. The viewing platform over the game reserve promises great insights. Enjoy the breathtaking view over the mountain range of the Kitzbüheler Alpen and the Wilder Kaiser while sitting in the sunbeds on the spacious sun terrace of the Wildalpgatterl in the PillerseeTal region.

The Hohe Salve (1,829 m) at Hopfgarten is known for the best mountain view in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental ski area. With a reference to the famous mountain vistas of Switzerland, it is known as the “Tyrolean Rigi”: There are 70 peaks of 3,000 m elevation visible from the sunny terrace at the restaurant at the peak. A bit lower, right on the Salvenbahn, you’ll find the Tenn Mountain Inn, which is among the best huts in the SkiWelt. Celebrate a mountain New Year in Hopfgarten on the Hohe Salve with the motto “Together, and not alone.” The complete package includes fireworks and a group torchlight hike. This winter the ALPENIGLU®-village of Hochbrixen again invites you to a fairytale night in a fully equipped VIP Igloo for two (the complete event package incl. overnight stay with breakfast plus supporting events is available from 185 Euros per person). The event package with dinner and magical supporting program is available for 95 Euros per person.
