Crossing the Kitzbüheler Alpen on Touring Skis
Crossing the Kitzbüheler Alpen on touring skis is a relatively easy tour taking a number of days. Experienced alpinists can complete this tour even during high winter or in poor conditions. This tour through the wKitzbüheler Alpen is about 120 kilometers long with 5,000 meters of altitude to be negotiated. Thanks to a network of cable cars, 10,000 meters of downhill runs await ski tourers. The six day-stages take just between four and six hours, leaving time for resting or the occasional detour. The tour leads you from the Oberlandhütte in Aschau through the Windau, Kelchsau and Wildschönau into the Alpbachtal and on to Fügen in the Zillertal. The return trip by bus and train is relatively simple.
