Feldalphorn is one of the easiest skiing summits in the Kitzbühel Alps. Especially for beginners and to start our 4-day crossing, it’s the perfect mountain. Most ski tourers choose to ascend from Wildschönau, so our ascent from Kelchsau is definitely the quieter option. The crossing to Schwaigerberghorn is easy and makes the tour a perfect all-day venture.
In the area of the New Bamberg Hut, Schafsiedel is probably the best-known mountain. On our tour we scale the summit from Langer Grund in Kelchsau. A deserted ascent awaits us over the west ridge. Then we are rewarded with a great downhill run past the 3 Wildalmseen Lakes.
On the third day, our fitness will be somewhat challenged, in return we can look forward to 3 consecutive summit conquests. But the long descent from Steinbergstein into Windautal makes up for the 1,325 metres difference in altitude we have covered before.
Gerstinger Joch is a typical ski touring mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps. Extremely ski-friendly slopes and absolutely no obstacles, that’s how you could describe the ascent and up to Gerstinger Joch and the subsequent descent. With a great traverse into Spertental, we conclude our crossing of the Kitzbühel Alps.
