Tour information

The starting point of the first KAT Bike E-njoy stage is the tranquil pilgrimage village of Mariastein. From there, you take the marked route via Angerberg down to the green Inn River. Cross the river at the footbridge and then join the Inn cycle path. Follow this in the direction of Kufstein for about 400 m until you reach the junction with cycle path no. 21 Brixentalradweg. Follow this path in a south-easterly direction along the Brixentaler Ache river..

Leaving the small town of Wörgl behind you, you now cycle on to Hopfgarten - always on a gentle but steady incline. Pass the Lerchen pond in Hopfgarten, where fish lovers can enjoy the best trout in the Brixen Valley, and continue to the Kelchsau junction. Cross this and after approx. 150 m turn right uphill on an asphalt road (MTB Route 229) into the wonderful mountain village of Penningdörfl
A little off the route - directly in Penninger Dörfl - is the "Milchbuben" show farm. There you have the opportunity to watch the two young entrepreneurs making their own camembert, mountain cheese and other Tyrolean farm products, and to taste and buy the products straight away.
This little refreshment is ideal to gather strength for the next ascent.

The KAT Bike E-njoy Tour leads us away from Penningerdörfl further uphill on MTB Route 229 towards Haag Alm. After a short while, we change from the asphalt road to a wide gravel path. This runs through the shady mountain forest to the alpine pasture area high above Kelchsau.
When you arrive at the Haag Alm, enjoy the breathtaking view. (ATTENTION: Haag Alm is not open in summer) With the view of the Hohe Salve, the Kitzbühel Alps and the glaciated peaks of the Hohe Tauern, your soul and legs can take a well-deserved break. The ride continues downhill on MTB Route 229 into one of the three beautiful side valleys of the Brixental, Kelchsau.

The small mountain village shines with its originality and untouched nature. This is not the only reason why the traditional valley was chosen as the most beautiful place in Tyrol 2020 in the well-known Austrian TV format "9 places - 9 treasures" on ORF2.

After the rapid descent, turn left into the Kelchsau road and follow it about 700 m out of the valley. Then cross a small bridge on the right and continue on the marked route 227, over the Glantersberg, to Hopfgarten.

Once there, it is worth taking a short detour to the Elsbethen church or the Engelsberg ruins - two witnesses to Hopfgarten's eventful past. Continue uphill along route 274, which takes you over the Gruberberg. At the top, the penultimate descent awaits you in the direction of Lendwirt (refreshment stop). Here you are in the Windautal - the next branch of the Brixental.

Once again on the Brixental cycle path no. 21, the route continues into the valley along the Windauer Ache river to the Käsealm Straubing junction - MTB Route 207. Here, at the latest, you have earned a delicious Tyrolean snack board with homemade farmhouse bread and a refreshing drink.
After this last refreshment, it is not far to the stage destination. From the Straubing snack station, after a short climb, you ride back down into the Windautal valley and from there into the valley to Gasthof Steinberg, your destination. The inn is a member of the "Tyrolean KochArt" establishments - so you can look forward to a delicious dinner before falling contentedly into bed.
