Together with Elke, our hiking guide, we start our leisurely “Roas“ (Tyrolean for ramble) through the village of Itter in the village square. First, we visit St. Josefph`s church and the war memorial. After a short stop by Itter Castle we walk along the Way of St. James to the “Genusswelt”, a show room of the Ager company where speck is still being produced in traditional manner according to old farmers’ recipes. We’ll enjoy an exclusive tour and learn about the delicate procedure of making this culinary treat. Tirol and speck, a legendary duo. The ski bus will take us back to the village square in Itter.
