The starting point is accessed with the Salvenbahn I in Hopfgarten. From there walk in the direction of Berggasthof Tenn. Keep walking along the paved road which winds its way steadily uphill. At the first junction follow the sign “Rigi 45 min”. Soon after that you’ll get to the next well signposted junction.
A steep forest path starts from there leading you across meadows and pastures and later along a gravel path high up to the Alpengasthof Rigi. Once arrived at the inn you are right at the foot of the Hohe Salve. The destination always in sight the tour now runs along a forest path in several bends uphill. The demanding ascent will be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama. Apart from the Gipfelalm summit restaurant with its revolving terrace and restaurant,at the Hohe Salve there is also a children’s playground as well as Austria’s highest pilgrimage church.
To return comfortably to your starting point you can take the cable car Hohe Salve. Alternatively, you can walk down to the middle station passing the lake Salvensee and the reservoir Speichersee Hohe Salve.
