Tour information

Long and demanding mountain tour including the crossing of  two passes and speedy downhill rides
Enjoy the amazing panorama with views of the glaciers in the Zillertal Alps and the Hohe Tauern mountains.
Point of departure: Wörgl, tourist information office
Intinerary: Wörgl – Reintalersee - Zillertal - Zell am Ziller – Gerlospass, 1.531m (gradient of up to 10%) - Pinzgau – Richtung Mittersill to Hollersbach – Weiler Rettenbach, old Pass-Thurn-Straße - Pass Thurn, 1.274m (gradient below 10%) - Kitzbühel - Schwarzsee - Westendorf – Hopfgarten - Wörgl
Description: Cross the centre of Wörgl and follow the Inn cycle path in the direction of Kramsach. Go past Lake Reintaler and continue towards the Zillertal valley (Zillertal valley cycle path). Via quiet side roads you get to Zell am Ziller, from where the route now leads up Gerlos pass (1531m, gradient up to 10%). Once at the top the tour now goes on across the high plateau (Alpine village Königsleiten) before it takes you in a speedy downhill ride to the Krimml water falls. From Krimml you can either continue on the Pinzgau cycle path or, the faster alternative, along the rather quiet state road towards Mittersill. Make sure to get on the cycle path in Hollersbach and continue via the hamlet Rettenbach along the old Pass Thurn road. Pass a short passage of an unpaved road before turning into the Pass Thurn federal road. Carry on along the evenly inclining road (mostly under 10%) to the top of the pass. (1274m) and enjoy the following downhill ride (long straight) to Jochberg. Continue along the federal road to Kitzbühel. From the centre of Kitzbühel, go on in western direction to lake Schwarzsee. Ride past the lake and cross the state road to Reith. Now go on along the narrow side road past the golf course. The cycle path to Kirchberg is unpatched in some places but is practicable without any problems. Now follow the Brixental cycle path and get via Brixen, Westendorf and Hopfgarten back to Wörgl. (Alternative: from Kitzbühel along the federal road through the Brixental valley and Hopfgarten back to Wörgl)
