Tour information

This tour is suited for biking amateurs as well as experienced cyclists, leading along paved roads in the beginning and later along gravel paths through the most beautiful alpine pastures in Tyrol. The Kelchsau is one of 3 untouched side valleys of the Brixental valley and scores with a unique alpine scenery which you can fully enjoy on this tour. Start the tour at the tourist information office in Hopfgarten and ride through the railway underpass straight ahead over the bridge and then left in the direction of Kelchsau. Follow the road into the valley until the toll booth. Now take the road straight ahead to Langer Grund (cycle path n° 226) and to the inn Gasthof Moderstock. From there a gravel path leads you to the hut Erla Brennhütte. From here you can enjoy in absolute tranquillity breathtaking views in the pristine nature of the most beautiful side valleys in the Kitzbühel Alps.. Continue via the pasture Erlaalm to Tiefental, at the end of the valley. The alpine dairy farm Tiefentalalm was built more than 500 years ago and is one of the oldest mountain huts in Tyrol. Have a rest and enjoy the home-made dairy products. The long and relaxing descent through the Langer Grund leads you first along gravel, later, from Kelchsau onwards, on asphalt back to where you’ve started.
