Tour information

The starting point of this hike is the Lettenbichl car park in the Angerberg district of Embach. From there a well-developed and secured forest path leads you in serpentines uphill. Since you will be walking along the sun-exposed rocks soon it is advisable to carry sun protection and sufficient water with you. After approx. 2,5 hours you reach the first waypoint: the cosy mountain inn Buchacker Alm. There you should take a break, since the mountain hut is particularly well-known for its excellent cuisine.

Or you can continue walking along the trail Tyrol Adlerweg (Eagle Walk) to the Adlerhorst (eagle’s eyrie) viewing platform. A telescope will grant you fantastic views into the far distance and will help you  to indicate the surrounding mountains. Then the tour continues on a forest and meadow path to the entrance of the ice and stalactite cave. The cave at Hundsalmjoch is the only show cave in the North Tyrolean Alps in which there are ice and stalactite formations to be seen. It can only be visited with a guide. Current information on the tours offered can be found on the website of the State Association for Speleology in Tyrol.
Take the same way back in order to return to the starting point.
