Hopfgarten - Kurzer Grund (MTB route 225)

From the free Wasserfeld car park, we  turn right onto the road towards Kelchsau. We follow the road into the valley until we reach the Kelchsau area. In Kelchsau there is a short ascent past rustic farmhouses and the Fuchswirt inn. Then we cycle further into the valley until we get to the toll station. Immediately after passing it,we  turn left over the wooden bridge into the Kurzer Grund valley (signposted). Always following this road, we first pass a beautifully situated horse pasture and finally the reservoir at the Niederkaseralm. A stop at this cheese dairy, which has been in operation for generations, should not to be missed, as many products are still made there from raw milk according to the traditional recipe that has been handed down from one generation to the next. From here we continue to the Wegscheid Inn at the head of the valley. The Wegscheid Inn is known for its home-style cooking.
We return to the starting point via the same route.
ALTERNATIVE: For mountain bikers who would like to master another mountain stage, there is also the possibility of reaching Kelchsau via the district of Glantersberg (connecting route 227). Ascent from Hopfgarten approx. 400 m in altitude.
